About Me

My photo
When I read a great book, I don't go on to the next great book, I want to know what else the author has to offer. I read a lot of series and I believe it takes a great author to grow a series. It's not uncommon that once I find such an author, I will read everything they've written. Sometimes the series goes on past it's peak, but you won't find that to be an issue with my recommendations. These are the best of the best, in my book ;-)

Robyn Carr rattles my heart in Thunder Point

"When driving the Oregon coast, if you blink you’ll miss Thunder Point, a small, ordinary town at the base of towering cliffs, tucked into the curve of a picturesque bay. A long, peaceful beach, a little marina filled mostly with fishing boats, the bay peppered with tall, haystack rocks, the crashing, frothing Pacific Ocean. And the finest people you could ever hope to meet, people who open their hearts—and fall in love." - Robyn Carr

Rosalind James takes you on an Escape

Don't say I didn't warn you! In September of 2013, I came across the Escape to New Zealand series by Rosalind James and I've been following the All Blacks rugby team ever since! New Zealand is also a serious must-visit on my bucket list now too! The first book in the series is Just This Once and it's always $0.99. I read the first five books in eight days! I couldn't get enough. Book 6 didn't come out until June, 2014 but I was on it! There are now 8 books in the series. Click here to see all of the Escape to New Zealand books!

True to form, after reading as many of the Escape to New Zealand series books as there were available, I went searching for more from Rosalind James. This is when I discovered The Kincaids. There were only 2 books at the time, starting with Welcome To Paradise! There are only 3 total now, but they are all great reads!

Jill Shalvis is Simply Irresistible!

I downloaded my first Jill Shalvis book on August 18, 2013. It was book 1 of her Lucky Harbor series 'Simply Irresistible'. The first thing I did when I finished it was say a little prayer that it was a very long, established series. The Lucky Harbor series was up to 7 books at the time and I ate them up! The 8th book, Always On My Mind came out a little under a month later. It is sooooo good. Jill's wit constantly makes me laugh out loud when I'm reading her books. If you haven't come across this series yet, you get a full dozen to indulge on!

In January, 2014, I discovered The Wilder series trilogy and that's when I realized there was so much more to Jill Shalvis than Lucky Harbor and the madness began. And it is still ongoing. The first book in The Wilder series is 'Instant Attraction' and it's just the beginning of the Wilder adventure!
Book one of the Animal Magnetism series was released before I started The Wilder series but I didn't start it until April 2014. By then, I had four books to binge on and only three months to wait on book 5. There are 7 books total now and they're just as good as the Lucky Harbor and The Wilder series. Actually, if you're an animal lover, you may like them more! The first book in the series is also called 'Animal Magnetism'.

Jill just released the third book (April 2016) in her newest series, Cedar Ridge. If you follow Jill on Facebook and see her amazing posts of her favorite writing spots in her hometown of Lake Tahoe, you'll understand how easy it is for her to place you somewhere like Cedar Ridge, Colorado. The first book in the series is Second Chance Summer.

Roxanne St. Claire takes you away to Barefoot Bay!

In August 2013 I found myself in Florida on Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot Bay. I love the concept of this series. Better yet, it now has three spin-off series. The original Barefoot Bay quartet starts with Barefoot In The Sand.
The first spin-off series is the Barefoot Bay Billionaires trilogy followed by the Barefoot Bay Brides trilogy and the Barefoot Bay Undercover trilogy! I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in every one of these series.
I recommend reading all of these in order.

Julie Ortolon on Galveston Island

In September 2012, I was waiting for book 7 in Marie Force's Gansett Island series and landed on Julie Ortolon's Pearl Island. What a fun surprise it was to read her Pearl Island series. She's a Texas girl like me and the series takes place off the coast of Galveston Island. That may seem odd to anyone familiar with Galveston, but Pearl Island is a fictional island and you have to go Galveston Island to get to it. It's was quite an adventure and such a fun experience to read about an area that I'm so familiar with. The first book in the series is 'Falling For You' followed by 'Lead Me On', 'Don't Tempt Me' and 'Lie To Me'

Marie Force is a force of nature!!!

First of all, a big Congrats to Marie on finishing her 50th book just 2 weeks before her 50th Birthday. She is a Rock Star in my 'book' :)
I have no recollection of how I landed on Marie Force's Gansett Island with The McCarthy family, but waiting for the next book in the series nearly drove me crazy! I read the first 6 books in 5 days! Having to wait 2 weeks for book 7 was torture. The series has now surpassed 14 books and a following of readers unlike anything I've ever seen. There's even a Reader's Group on Facebook with over 10,000 members!
While I was not-so-patiently waiting on the next Gansett Island book, I discovered Marie's Treading Water series. This is when I knew that I would read every book she will ever write! I finished the series in a few days and started knocking out all of her stand alone books one by one.
My return to Gansett Island was too brief but my curiosity about Marie's Fatal series finally got the best of me. I'll admit, the title alone worried me. It wasn't at all what I feared and I was hooked all over again. I read the first four book in four days and had to wait until November for book 5. The series is now up to 10 books! Click here for all of the Fatal series books!
The first book in Marie's Green Mountain series came out in February of 2014 and I didn't welcome it. I loved all of her other series so much, I just wanted more of them. I even waited ten days to purchase the first book after it was released. It was a rookie mistake and I'm no rookie with Marie Force's books! By the time you finish book one, you'll be packing a bag for Vermont and looking for one of those Abbott boys!

Dorothea Benton Frank loves on the Lowcountry!

Mary Alice Monroe took me to the Lowcountry in South Carolina, but Dorothea Benton Frank kept me there with her Lowcountry Tales series. The first one Sullivan's Island started my planning for a South Carolina vacation trip that I still dream about today. The additional books are as follows:
#2 - Plantation
#3 - Isle of Palms
#4 - Shem Creek
#5 - Pawleys Island
#6 - Folly Beach
#7 - Lowcountry Summer
#8 - Return To Sullivan Island
#9 - Bulls Island
Dorothea Benton Frank also has eight additional stand alone books. I have only read Porch Lights but I loved it and plan to get back to the other seven soon!

Mary Alice Monroe, Whoa!

After devouring all of Elin Hilderbrand's books through mid-July, 2012, I read a book by Marie Alice Monroe called The Beach House and became obsessed with Sea Turtles and South Carolina, lol. It was soooo good. It was excited to discover it was a part of a trilogy, including Swimming Lessons and Beach House Memories and only spent two days on each one. In 2013, 2014 and 2015 she came out with her Lowcountry series and knocked it out of the park again! The first book in the series was The Summer Girls followed by The Summer Wind and The Summers End. I'm looking forward to the fourth book in the series being released on May 3, 2016 - A Lowcountry Wedding. She also has ten stand alone novels and a couple of children's books. I've only read Time Is A River and The Four Seasons. I have every intention of getting back to the others, but the experiences I was having with series books quickly turned them into a preference.

Elin Hilderbrand reKINDLEs an old flame!

After 21 years of raising children, I finally picked up another book. I was flying out of Houston, Texas to Bellingham, Washington on June 8, 2012 and purchased a book in the airport. This book was called 'The Island' by Elin Hilderbrand and I devoured it. My intention was to read it on the plane trip to Bellingham and on the trip back, but I never put it down. I discovered that it was one of many books by Elin that takes place on or near Nantucket Island. I spent two weeks in Bellingham but refused to get on the plane for the return trip home without another book. I found 'The Beach Club' and off I went. When I returned home, I purchased a Kindle. My Amazon Kindle purchases from the time I returned home on June 24, 2012 are as follows:
June 24, 2012 - A Summer Affair
June 25, 2012 - Nantucket Nights
June 27, 2012 - Barefoot
June 30, 2012 - Summer People
July 3, 2012 - Beautiful Day
July 4, 2012 - Silver Girl
July 7, 2012 - The Castaways
July 9, 2012 - The Blue Bistro
July 12, 2012 - The Love Season
July 15, 2012 - Summerland
Obviously, an old addiction was back in full force!
Click here to see all of Elin's books!
The last book, Summerland was released June 26, 2012 and the next book wasn't released until May 14, 2013 so I was forced to seek out another author. And we all know what it's like when we find an author we love and read the last book they have available.
